Global warming is an important issue for many Puerto Ricans.

In the past year, I have noticed a drastic change in the weather here. The first sign was trees that typically flowered under the June-July heat suddenly kept flowering until October because of the increasing heat level.

Then the cold winters stopped coming in December and came in late February, lasting only about a month and were not as powerful as before. There was no dry season this year; and there is ALWAYS a dry season in Puerto Rico.  Though that was good, everyone thought it an oddity.

Lastly, the hurricanes that have been forming in Africa have been worrying the country. Hurricanes never form this early or this powerfully. Now we look toward the next four months with fear, since more hurricanes with more potency are the only thing on the horizon.

Puerto Rico’s climate is a clear sign that global warming is real. We need to stop this before it gets worse
