The Greenpeace Africa website (referred to as \u2018website\u2019) is managed by Greenpeace Africa (referred to as \u2018we\u2019) located at Fourth Floor, Rosebank Quarter, 158 Jan Smuts Drive, Rosebank.<\/span><\/p>\n

Greenpeace is considered the \u2018data controller\u2019 within the meaning of the applicable data protection legislation. The South African data protection authority has been notified of the processing of personal data as undertaken by us and described in this document.<\/span><\/p>\n

We may ask you to provide your name and contact details when posting a comment, signing a petition, or making a donation on our website. We show social networking sharing buttons and widgets from Meta, Google, X (formerly known as Twitter) on our website to enable you to easily share Greenpeace campaigns and news with friends. These social networking sharing buttons and widgets come from web servers which may track your behaviour on our website and may combine this with other information about you originating from other websites. You can install a browser add-on like \u201cDisconnect\u201d for <\/span>Chrome<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Firefox<\/span><\/a> to disable them.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also gather information automatically about website visitors to help us maintain and improve the design of our website. We use web analysis tools like Google Analytics and Mixpanel to gather this data and analyse it. You can install the \u201c<\/span>Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on<\/span><\/a>\u201d to prevent information about your visits to our website being sent to Google Analytics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Information sharing and disclosure practices<\/b><\/h3>\n

Your name may appear together with your comments on our website. To inspire others to take action, we may also show your name and a summary of what you have just done on our website. For example, if you sign a petition or make a donation, your actions may be highlighted. To ensure compliance with local laws, we adhere to the data protection regulations of African countries where we operate, such as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa.
