On this Black Friday, don\u2019t sell Kenya as a plastic bin to the USA, President Kenyatta. We need a plastic free country. That is what the Greenpeace Africa activists are demanding today in front of the State Department for Trade building, and many other places.<\/p>\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n

President Uhuru Kenyatta, the gains that the Kenya single-use ban achieved is under threat by the proposal from the American Chemistry Council in the ongoing US-Kenya Free Trade Agreement<\/a> sought to have plastics imported into Kenya. Say no to them.<\/p>\n\n

The last thing we need right now is to have 500 tons of plastic imported into the country every year. That does not make our lives better, what would tho  is an economy that is based on reuse and refill business, a circular economy. That would not only be beneficial for the environment but would bring more jobs and prosperity to us all.<\/p>\n\n

November 24th<\/h2>\n\n

We believe in people power and in actions. That is why today Greenpeace Africa activists are on the streets of Kenya sending a message to President Kenyatta. Our activists are using stickers to remind whoever is on the streets that Kenya is not for sale, and that the president must act to not accept the absurd proposal from the American Chemistry Council to export 500 tons of plastic waste to our country.<\/p>\n\n

If you see the stickers on your way home, take a photo and post on your social media with the hashtag #DontSellKenya. Let\u2019s pressure President Uhuru Kenyatta to protect Kenya from plastic pollution today and always.<\/p>\n\n

November 26th<\/h2>\n\n

Black Friday is almost here. It is a date that sparkles with the worst of consumerism, but it can also be used for good: to ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to not sell Africa out to the USA. The American Chemistry Council has lobbied the US government during the Trump administration to use a US-Kenya trade deal to send their plastic waste to Kenya<\/a>. This group that is lobbying this absurdity has Shell, Exxon, and Total among its members. That is why today, at 18:00, we are going to a Twitter storm, to show to President Kenyatta that Kenya cannot be the USA’s plastic bin. Join us on at 7 pm, and tweet and retweet with Greenpeace Africa about this absurd with the hashtag #DontSellKenya<\/p>\n\n
