I am so thrilled to be joining one of the most remarkable events taking place in Beirut, Lebanon. The Climate Justice Camp only happens once a year, and this year I am among the youth and climate activists from the Global South who will be participating.<\/p>\n\n

My expectations and contribution to the camp<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Hundreds of young people from different countries, continents, cultural backgrounds, and races will be gathering at the camp. As a young person, I expect to engage, build relationships and expand my network. It is my hope that we share different perspectives on different challenges and that I learn more about how my fellow youth activists are tackling the climate crisis in their respective countries. I also expect to learn about Lebanese culture and its people.<\/p>\n\n

As a climate activist from Tanzania, I expect to share and contribute my ideas and provide solutions that can be used to heal our broken planet. Since urgent change is needed, I expect to engage with my fellow youth activists to come up with resolutions that will pave the way to real action ahead of COP 28 in Dubai.<\/p>\n\n

It’s time to act, young people are taking the lead towards climate justice. Leaders will hear us<\/p>\n\n

Drawing from my hands-on experience within my community, I will share various issues affecting my people with others at the camp. I eagerly anticipate discussing challenges such as droughts, famine, hunger, floods and the energy crisis. In particular, I’m keen on addressing the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy and ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) before 2030.<\/p>\n\n
