Responding to this news, Greenpeace Africa\u2019s Food for Life Campaigner Claire Nasike has said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cClimate change and a broken food system will continue to open the door to fall armyworm. In less than three years, the impact of the fall armyworm has been felt not just across Kenya but in Africa as a whole.\u00a0 Since many regions in the country are already experiencing the impacts of climate-change, it is likely that there will be a recurrence of these pests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cA study by International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.icipe.org\/news\/icipe-push-pull-technology-halts-fall-armyworm-rampage\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.icipe.org\/news\/icipe-push-pull-technology-halts-fall-armyworm-rampage&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1548495673563000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFnjREyAUS18k15B8I-I1muu60lig\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ICIPE)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0has established that a climate-adapted version of Push-Pull technique is effective in controlling the fall armyworm, providing a suitable, accessible, environmentally friendly and cost-effective strategy for managing the pest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe ministry of Agriculture needs to urgently prioritise ecological farming methods which combine modern science and innovation with respect for nature and biodiversity.
