Greenpeace is calling on Nestl\u00e9 to end its reliance on single-use plastic.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Greenpeace activists delivered a 20-meter long plastic monster covered in Nestle\u0301 branded plastic packaging to the company\u2018s global headquarters in Switzerland on April 16, 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So where did the plastic monsters originate? <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nestl<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00e9. <\/span><b>Nestl<\/b><b>\u00e9 and other multinational corporations produce massive amounts of single-use plastic packaging.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> As we all know, plastic is devastating communities, polluting natural environments, and threatening marine creatures around the world. Last year, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/story\/21712\/were-going-after-nestle-heres-why\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nestl\u00e9 used 1.7 million tonnes of plastic packaging<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. And while their latest move is to try to argue the exact numbers, <\/span><b>the simple fact remains that <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Nestle%CC%81-A-giant-plastic-problem.pdf\"><b>Nestl\u00e9 produced more plastic last year than the year before<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This has got to stop. <\/span><b>At a time when companies need to be focused on urgently reducing their overall plastic production, <\/b><b>Nestl<\/b><b>\u00e9 continues to increase it<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, distracting concerned customers and the media with more talk of recycling and small reuse initiatives that are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/story\/21771\/nestle-wanted-us-to-post-their-statement-here-it-is-with-a-few-clarifications\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nowhere near the scale needed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to actually make a dent in the obscene amount of plastic they are pumping out into the world. In fact, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakfreefromplastic.org\/globalbrandauditreport2018\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nestl\u00e9 was named one of the worst plastic polluters after cleanups and brand audits of plastic waste around the world in 2018.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So the plastic monsters woke up and decided to return home to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nestl<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00e9. A huge plastic monster, 20 meters long and covered in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nestle\u0301\u2019s plastic waste<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, appeared in the Netherlands in late March. The event is a festival for a world without single-use plastic and includes vegan food trucks, workshops, talks, films, music and two Greenpeace vessels anchored at the Waalkade. It\u2019s time for the company to own its mess and stop pushing false solutions that will never solve this crisis.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the U.S., Greenpeace activists delivered a plastic monster to Nestl\u00e9\u2019s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
