Nature is part of who we are in Aotearoa \u2013 it\u2019s where we go to escape, recharge, and connect, and it\u2019s the critical refuge native wildlife needs to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But nature is under attack from this Coalition Government, their fast-tracked projects and the Conservation Amendment Bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why we’re launching Hike for Nature. By lacing up your boots, you can show your love of nature and help protect the places and wildlife you love for generations to come.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

A fun, free, month-long challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Challenge yourself to hike 50 km, 75 km or 100 km this October to defend nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Share your challenge and ask your friends and wh\u0101nau to sponsor your kilometres to power Greenpeace\u2019s ongoing work to defend nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every dollar you raise and every kilometre you cover will help protect the places you love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the Hike for Nature?<\/h2>\n\n

Nature is under threat by this Coalition Government and their war on nature<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The Conservation Amendment Bill<\/a> would make it easier to commercially exploit and even sell off public conservation land. But this is only the latest attack on the laws that protect nature<\/a> in Aotearoa. <\/p>\n\n

With more than 4000 native species on the brink of extinction in Aotearoa, now is the time to come together and protect the nature we love.<\/p>\n\n

That’s why we’ve created Hike for Nature<\/a>. Open to people across Aotearoa, Hike for Nature is a month-long challenge taking place in October 2026. Hikers will set a distance goal – 50 km, 75 km, or 100 km – to hike towards over October, and ask their friends and wh\u0101nau to donate to their effort and raise money for our ongoing work to defend nature. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature, whilst helping protect the unique wildlife of Aotearoa.<\/p>\n\n

By lacing up your boots and joining Hike for Nature, you can show your love of nature and make a lasting impact towards the protection of nature in Aotearoa.<\/p>\n\n
