{"id":15843,"date":"2021-03-22T10:19:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-21T21:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/aotearoa\/?p=15843"},"modified":"2025-07-28T21:07:41","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T09:07:41","slug":"the-ties-that-bind-us-and-move-us-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/aotearoa\/story\/the-ties-that-bind-us-and-move-us-forward\/","title":{"rendered":"The ties that bind us, and move us forward"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The greatest change has always been driven by movements of people organising from the ground up \u2013 from local level battles to facing global crises \u2013 to challenge the status quo and raise the ceiling of social progression.<\/p>\n\n<p>It\u2019s the bonds we share as a collective and how we harness that power that shapes our ability to create change in our communities, the regions we live in, and as a global team of eight billion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Over the past six months, Greenpeace has been collaborating with young activists, influencers, scientists, and journalists, to co-create a space that showcases the interconnectedness of the work they do.<\/p>\n\n<p>From activism in the Amazon, to the links between climate and health, we have been producing a series of live online Roundtable discussions that explore themes of diversity, solidarity, intersectionality, depolarisation, and intergenerationality.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u201cHuman rights activists are equally environmental activists. Hosted by Greenpeace Brazil\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Cristiane Mazzetti<\/strong>, this discussion features&nbsp;<strong>Samela Sater\u00e9 Maw\u00e9<\/strong>&nbsp;of Fridays For Future;&nbsp;<strong>L\u00edvia Pinaso<\/strong>&nbsp;from Polluters Out; and community leader&nbsp;<strong>Angela Mendes<\/strong>, the daughter of renowned rubber tapper, trade union leader, and environmentalist Chico Mendes.
