Here\u2019s why a win for them is a win for all of us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The \u201cFight for Life\u201d (\u201c<em>Luta pela vida<\/em>\u201d) Camp has brought together up to 6,000 Indigenous leaders and activists from all regions of the country to protest the government\u2019s anti-Indigenous policies and rollbacks on protections for their lands and lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Ip\u00ea square in Bras\u00edlia is currently the biggest Indigenous village in Brazil. And it\u2019s the largest Indigenous demonstration in Brazil\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are they protesting?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The current Brazilian government has an explicitly anti-Indigenous agenda, abandoning Indigenous communities as they face invasions from land grabbers, miners, and loggers.<\/p>\n\n<p>This week is critical because the Brazilian Supreme Court will rule on a legal case that could severely limit Indigenous land rights. This means that the Brazilian government must ensure these lands are recognised and protected. For landgrabbers, and the mining and agribusiness sectors, they see Indigenous Peoples\u2019 rights as an obstacle to endless expansion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Indigenous Peoples, especially in the Amazon and other Brazilian forests and wetlands, are on the frontlines of the fight against irreversible climate change.
