A new fresh water documentary by Greenpeace – coming soon to a cinema near you!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Greenpeace’s new freshwater documentary, Something in the Water, premieres on August 20th in Christchurch, New Zealand. This documentary tells the story of people across Canterbury who are standing up to defend lakes, rivers and drinking water – and we’re so excited to share their stories with you.<\/p>\n\n

How can I view the documentary?<\/h3>\n\n

Greenpeace will be hosting FREE screenings of this documentary in August and September 2025. The details for these are below and will be updated as more are scheduled:<\/p>\n\n

What is this documentary about?<\/h3>\n\n

For decades, Canterbury\u2019s lakes, rivers, and drinking water have been heading on a rapid downhill trajectory. But it\u2019s not too late to turn that around. People across Canterbury are fighting back to protect their access to fresh water – and this is their story.<\/p>\n\n

In this Greenpeace documentary, join campaigner Will Appelbe as he travels throughout the Canterbury region, speaking to communities who are on the frontlines of the freshwater crisis. We speak to elders who have experienced dramatic changes to their local waterways within their lifetimes as a result of industry pollution, and we hear from those who are campaigning to improve the state of lakes, rivers, and drinking water across the Waitaha.<\/p>\n\n
