It attempts to lock ACT\u2019s far-right principles into law, making sure that corporate property and profits trump the public good, environmental protection and our founding document.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The Regulatory Standards Bill tries to make all future governments follow a set of ACT\u2019s principles when they\u2019re making laws. These principles would:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a new unprecedented expectation that the government pays corporations taxpayer money if new rules impact their property, even if those rules are to stop pollution, protect nature, or prevent harm to people and communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exclude Te Tiriti o Waitangi entirely.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prioritise corporate property and \u201cindividual freedom\u201d over environmental protection, public safety, and indigenous rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This is the fourth time ACT has tried to pass a bill like this. It\u2019s failed not <a href=\"https:\/\/bills.parliament.nz\/v\/6\/f0b2b8de-a5d7-4b33-8c59-e52cedf60493?Tab=history\">once<\/a>, not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.govt.nz\/bill\/government\/2011\/0277\/latest\/d56e2.html\">twice<\/a>, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.govt.nz\/bill\/member\/2021\/0027\/latest\/whole.html\">three <\/a>times already. They might not stop a bill on their own, but they are a powerful tool we have in the wider fight to defend nature, Te Tiriti and our future. Together, we\u2019ve kicked oil giants out of our oceans, stopped native forest logging, and we absolutely buried David Seymour\u2019s last attack on Te Tiriti o Waitangi. All you need to do is fill in the contact details they ask for, and then on the next page, make sure you write:<br><br><strong><em>I oppose the Regulatory Standards Bill.&nbsp; It should be thrown out immediately.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Want to do a longer submission?
