Mandela

Yes, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was an incredible man. He lived his life with his fist constantly held up high ready for battle, fighting for the sustainability of all mankind, the Black, Colored, Indian living in South Africa. He challenged the white people to believe in a world where all could live as one, the rainbow nation.

He unified us to believe in living in one country and sharing our humanness. Till the very last day of his life he breathed hope into all the nations. During his time he brought to life Ubuntu, which involved compassion and humanity. Living in harmony with others beyond our race, culture and statues.

He was a great leader, one that stood against all the odds, even when the world tried to tell him it was impossible and locked him away never to see another day of light.  He believed “It always seems impossible until it’s done”. He made it possible and Ubuntu prevailed because people united and fought together for his freedom and the freedom of the nation.

Nelson Mandela stood for the people. He was instrumental in bringing hope to all human beings. If the nation is hopeful, the people will want to live to see a better tomorrow. They will want to get involved in every act, no matter the sacrifice, to preserve life and see a better road ahead.

We all come from different walks of life, we all have our own destinies to fulfill, and on Mandela day we all are given an opportunity to express to the world how Nelson Mandela impacted our lives.

I chose to give back to the environment and to be part in the struggle to protect the environment and giving it a voice. We human beings should realize that we need clean air, clean water, that natural resources are precious and that preserving those is an act that each and every one of us are held accountable for.

If we take this responsibility we will make every day a Mandela day. Continuing on the legacy of hope that we so graciously and freely inherited from the great leader Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
