Climate Refugee "Animals" Visit Government Departments

Video | December 8, 2010

As part of a campaign to raise awareness about climate change in Africa, climate refugee 'animals' visited the Departments of Home Affairs and Housing.

They carried boards with messages such as "My water hole has dried up. Need new home" and "My home in the Arctic melted".

Although humour was used to draw attention to climate change, the situation is anything but funny.

The animals were an appealing way to draw attention to the millions of people in Africa and around the world who are already, and will be severly affected by climate change.

Many groups of people will be forced to leave their homes as water becomes more scarce, sea levels rise, and weather patterns change.
