Feature story - February 15, 2012
This March will mark one year since the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan.
A year on, people are still suffering the effects of this catastrophe, proving that governments and the nuclear industry have not been honest about the risks of nuclear power.
Join us at UJ, TUKS and UCT.
And yet, South Africa is barreling ahead with plans to build 6 new nuclear reactors by 2030. If we do not challenge these plans now, the next Fukushima could happen in South Africa.
To learn more about the risks that every South African will have to live with if government goes ahead with its nuclear plans, come and hear an eyewitness account from someone who’s lived through the Fukushima crisis. Ms Ayoko Oga will tell us about the impact it’s had on her life, and what we can learn from the disaster.
