E-activist volunteers

Vacature - 26 oktober, 2017
Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. Would you like to use your skills for a fair and green planet? And do you think that a post on Facebook or a review on Google can be just as effective as hanging a banner on a building? Then you are the candidate we are looking for!

Responsibilities. We are looking for motivated volunteers that want to strengthen Greenpeace in an innovative team, the e-activist team. As an e-activist you work together with your team to think of new tactics for online legal action, this results in social media posts, memes, sending out e-mails to companies, writing reviews and adding pictures on Google. As an e-activist you will contribute to different online actions and are involved in the process of generating these actions by attending brainstorms.

What skills do you need?

  • You have at least experience or are active in one of the following online channels, Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter (bombs), Linkedin, Instagram, Youtube, Google maps/reviews or e-mail.
  • Basic understanding of reading and writing in English, most communication will be done in English.
  • You are able to work responsible at home or at the Greenpeace office to do research on certain topics.
  • You are motivated by the goals and core values of Greenpeace (www.greenpeace.be) and will stick to the code of conduct for e-activists during action.
  • You are a teamplayer. The core of an e-activist team is working together to reach a certain goal.

Time and location.  For e-activists the workspace is very flexible, you can either work from home or from the Greenpeace office in Brussels. Basically, any location that has a good Internet connection. At the end of November we will organize a meeting with the whole team at the office of Greenpeace in Brussels. By then we will set the parameters for the team & define our communication tools.

What do we offer?

  • As an e-activist you have the chance to contribute to the different campaigns of Greenpeace.
  • We will set-up trainings to improve your skills online, for example, how to use social media in an effective way? What is non-violent direct action? And why is LinkedIn an interesting tool for online action.
  • Travel costs will be refunded if you travel by public transport (2nd class for the train).
  • We can also help you if you need a reference for a future job.
