African fishermen tell how European megatrawlers are plundering Africa

African fishermen during a press conference in Brussels , with the assistance of ocean campaigners from Greenpeace's European and Senegalese units, spoke out against the negative impact European trawlers are having on the size of their catches and how this threatens the survival of local communities as a direct result of unfair competition. The fishermen were in Brussels as part of a campaign giving West African fishermen a voice to speak out against the environmental and human impact of overfishing by EU fleets in developing countries. They also meet politicians from several European countries who will contribute to the ongoing reform of the EU’s fishing rules; the EU Common Fisheries Policy, over the next three years.
