A couple of common murres (Uria aalge) squat on the unusually calm waters of the Bering Sea, Alaska. The Alaskan Arctic Expedition highlights the need to save the Arctic from attempts by oil companies to exploit the region’s resources for short term profit. The MY Esperanza will document what's at stake in the region whilst committing to a wider objective of protecting the Arctic and creating a sanctuary around the North Pole.07/04/2012
