Brinjals celebrate three years of their GM-free status

Three years ago protests from thousands of us got a moratorium on Bt brinjal. Multinational seed companies like Monsanto and our very own Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar dislike this moratorium. It’s now up to us to ensure they don’t use the excuse of food scarcity to unleash this dangerous technology on us.

February 9 marked the third anniversary of the moratorium on Bt brinjal. Greenpeace India volunteers dressed as smiling brinjals were joined by Bangaloreans as they walked across MG road in the epic Beatles' Abbey Road style, holding a banner, exhorting citizens to “Imagine... A GM-Free Future.”
