Protect forests and everything they preserve

As much as 80% of the world's forests have been destroyed. Greenpeace is campaigning for zero deforestation by 2020 to protect what is left of our forests. Forests are one of the greatest storehouses of biodiversity on Earth. They are also the lungs of the Earth and regulate the Earth's climate storing nearly 300 billion tonnes of carbon. This World Forest Day we bring you forests from around the world that have faced destruction for one reason or the other.

Forests in Central India are threatened by coal mining and millions of hectares stand to be lost. To support Greenpeace India's campaign to save these forests visit www.junglistan.org.
