People power switches-on the Sun

On World Environment day, 100 people on 25 stationary bicycles pedaled hard to power a sign that read 'Switch-on the Sun' at Dilli Haat in Delhi. They were a part of a first of its kind bike-a-thon to show support for renewable energy in the city.

Delhi is infamous for its summer and power cuts. The Capital depends on other States for power supply which falls short of the rising demand. Greenpeace has been running a campaign in Delhi, asking Chief Minister Shiela Dixit to introduce a policy that allows people to generate power through renewable energy sources like the sun. The bike-a-thon on World Environment day was an attempt to gather more support for this demand.
