Greenpeace India tells Delhi Power Minister to Switch On The Sun

Video | May 27, 2013

On May 15, Greenpeace India activists protested outside Delhi Power Minister, Haroon Yusuf's residence. The activists rolled out six solar panels weighing over 250 KG in front of his gate to urge him to introduce a renewable energy policy for Delhi.

The activists were violently removed by the police but their persistent demands ensured a meeting with the Minister. He was noncommittal on a timeline for a strong policy on renewable energy. However, he did agree to forward the Greenpeace report and recommendations to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) for future action.
