Greenpeace demonstrates outside the Auto Expo 2008 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi about the impact of the Indian automobile industry on global warming. With the Indian car industry poised for a boom, the Co2 emissions from this sector will grow massively, making it a major contributor to global warming. The transport sector in India currently contributes to 18% of India’s CO2 emissions. Greenpeace is demanding that mandatory fuel efficiency standards for cars be introduced.
