Even after the governments promise of 100 percent rural electrification, several villages in India still go without electricity.

Some villages however have seen light with the help of decentralised renewable energy (DRE) projects started by individuals or groups in their villages.

Here's a story about some of these DRE projects which have illuminated the lives of many.
