Greenpeace India, on April 22, 2013 released its national ratings of renewable energy targets. The report ranks the performance of different states on renewable energy supply and found that the energy guzzling national capital, Delhi is amongst the worst performers.

Titled 'Powering Ahead with Renewables: Leaders and Laggards', the report is a comprehensive assessment on the Renewable Purchase Obligation of the states in India. Out of 29 states, 22 failed to meet their Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets which led to a loss of more than 25% electricity that was expected to be generated from renewable energy sources in 2012. The report recommends fiscal and policy measures to promote renewable energy projects over conventional electricity.
