You should ask the Election Commission to enforce the Model Code of Conduct and not let the government tamper with our safety

We need YOUR support to tell the Election Commission to keep our food and energy supply safe!

Say no nuclear and GM

This election, let’s make our voices heard as it should be in a democracy. Approving field trials for Genetically Modified (GM) crops and Kudankulam nuclear reactors (3 & 4) is against the Model Code of Conduct. Why is the government in a hurry to get these approved before the 2014 General Election?

Why is this important now?

The government is adamant and in a hurry to introduce GM crops in our food supply chain, and approve two more nuclear reactors in Kudankulam, without ensuring that the foreign supplier would be held liable in case of an accident. The government is even bypassing the Supreme Court, where a case on Kudankulam and nuclear liability is still pending.

Why the scramble before the elections?

This is a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The Election Commission has the authority to disapprove these big changes by the government during elections.

What happens during an election also has a huge impact on our lives!

The government should not meddle with the democratic processes, not before the elections in 2014!
