Greenpeace activists put Braila Island, on the Danube,under quarantine, after Greenpeace fieldinvestigations revealed that illegal GeneticallyModified (GMO) Soya is being grown and harvestedthere. Thirty Greenpeace activists from across Europeset up a ‘decontamination station’ for all vehiclesleaving the island, to prevent genetic contaminationfrom spreading. Any vehicle found transporting GMOcrops from the island will be handed over to theRomanian authorities.
