Orang-utans, elephants, tigers, rhinoceros, more than 1500 species of birds, and thousands plant species are all part of the country's biological heritage. Forest loss in Indonesia doubled during the 1990's to 3.8 million hectares lost in 2000. This is equivalent to six times the rate of forest loss in the Brazilian Amazon. Read more »
