September 2009, Greenpeace activists onboard the Rainbow Warrior confronted a bluefin tuna ranching operation in the Mediterranean, setting buoys marked “Crime Scene” around the ranch. Bluefin tuna ranching enables the fattening of caught bluefin in order to increase its value, an instrumental part of the bluefin trade driving its decline.
