22 September 2010 - Gulf of Mexico. The CTD unit (conductivity, temperature & depth) is lowered off the Greenpeace ship, MY Arctic Sunrise. The crew and scientists will work 30 straight hours deploying and recovering the CTD then retrieving water samples as many as ten times. Greenpeace, partnered with teams of independent scientists, has been investigating the environmental effects of the oil spill and toxic dispersants used to break up the million barrels of crude oil spilled in the worst environmental disaster in United States history.
