People of Pak Phanang river basin oppose Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand's (EGAT) plan to build a coal-fired power plant in the area which will negatively affect the communitiesways of lives that rely on rich but fragile natural resources. Nakon Sri Thammarat is one of the countryÕs major food producers. Nearshore fishery, shrimp farming, Bird nest collecting, and rice farming are the main source of livelihood of thousands people in the province. Greenpeace stands in solidarity with the people's movement, calling on the Thai government to have political will and action and lead the country towards an energy revolution by investing in renewable energy and putting in place more aggressive energy efficiency systems.04/07/2012
