With only 2 1/2 days officially left in the negotiations, our activists decided it was about time to remind the ministers the climate crisis waits for no one, and that the important decisions on climate change need to be made now. The activists brought their message to the entrance of the UN climate negotiations where ministers travel between sessions.

Waiting for others to act first is not an option. Here is what we need to happen in the next few days. The ministers need to agree to a mandate to start negotiations in March - with a detailed work plan to ensure it is completed in Copenhagen in December 2009 - and that developed countries agree on greenhouse gas emission reduction targets at the upper end of 25-40%, as identified earlier this year by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
