Seeing this nearly makes me cry... We were "given" a beautiful garden of eden filled with life and a miriad of colors and we're painting it black. If this is the price I have to pay for progress then I don't want to pay it, not like this, not by turning our beautiful planet into a barren wasteland.
I see in fact some iniciatives by certain governments to put a stop into all this or at least to minimize the impact we're having on the planet but...they are plans for the future sadly.
Our governments don't seem to have power over anything, instead it's the big corporations who detain the true power (money) who call the shots, we vote believing there is a democracy and that our governments are gonna help us turn this around when in fact they seems to be equally powerless.
I try to be positive about our future but I only see greed ahead of me, decisions important to our future as a species are continuously delayed as if they were unimportant... Planet might not be destroyed, it might even regenerate itself in time as it as done in the past but we as a species are wasting this opportunity to live quietly in this beautiful place. I do have hope as long as we have organizations like Greenpeace but each day that passes our time is running out.

It all goes to the top, to the elite.

They (the oil companies) don't maintain the pipelines. if they do maintenance they only install temporary solutions, that are really just for show. if a spill happens, it happens. They put some people to work on it, simply for formality's sake.
