Top news: Nike commits to champion a toxic free future; The truth about tuna; Aliens might come after us.

Detox: The world's #1 sportswear brand, Nike has officially committed to eliminating all hazardous chemicals across its entire supply chain and the entire life-cycle of its products by 2020.  An action plan outlining how this goal will be achieved is expected within the next eight weeks. This is a major step towards protecting the planet’s precious water and creating a toxic-free future. Can Adidas top that?

Oceans: The USA’s three largest unsustainable tuna companies: StarKist, Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea are trying hard to keep their dirty secret under wraps. All three companies sent Greenpeace cease-and-desist letters in an effort to squash a 140-second animated parody depicting a fish, a bee, and a bad-tempered mermaid reveling in their destructive practices. The bottom line: legal threats can’t take away from the fact that sustainable fishing is both possible and necessary to keep our oceans healthy.

Mars attacks: A NASA report warns that little green men may, at some point, show up to exterminate us.  Apparently the large amount of greenhouse gas emissions that we humans produce makes us a threat to other civilizations. Scientists cannot say for sure if and when the aliens will choose to stop us but as Fox Mulder would say, “the truth is out there.”
