#Nukes: While major countries with nuclear power plants decided to revise their nuclear plans, Mexican government officials announced their “positive” plans on building two to ten new nuclear reactors in the next 17 years. #Nukes: Greenpeace and Depana Ecologists in Action, have organized two vigils in Barcelona TODAY in solidarity with the Japanese people and to protest over the use of nuclear energy.
#Nukes: In Chile, Greenpeace has been asked to lead a march this Sunday advocating against nuclear power plants plans and to protest against signing of agreements on the matter signed by the President Piñera with U.S. President Barack Obama next week.
#Coal: A number of NGOs, including Greenpeace lashed out at the Pranab Mukherjee-headed Group of Ministers (GoM) on coal mining for working in an “undemocratic manner”. They advocate for greater transparency and openness when deciding the fate of over 600,000 hectares (6,000 sq km) of India’s forests.
#Nukes: Chinese retailers reported on panic buying of salt, partly because shoppers believe it could help ward off the effects of potential radioactivity from Japan’s nuclear power plant (note: salt is does not prevent radioactivity contamination in one’s body, in case you were about to Google it.)
