This weekend Greenpeace-commissioned photographer Lu Guang will receive 3rd place for “spot news stories” at the prestigious World Press Photo for his documentation of last July’s Dalian oil spill in northeastern China. The awards are taking place this weekend in Amsterdam and I'm lucky enough to be at the awards with Lu Guang.

In the 2 days preceding the awards ceremony, each award winner has an opportunity to present their work. This morning, Lu Guang used this time to present a collection of his photos about water pollution in China. So many of the communities affected by the extreme pollution of China's waters are the same people that rely on water for their way of life. You could hear a pin drop as Lu Guang presented his images.

Have a look at some of images presented this morning.
