Today is World Wetlands Day and this year, in the UN International Year of Forests, the theme for today is 'Wetlands and Forests'.
Greenpeace is working to save the rainforests and carbon rich peatlands of Indonesia.
Only 20 percent of the world's forests remain in large, intact tracts. And Indonesia's rainforests are some of the most threatened in the world.
They shelter an amazingly rich number of plant and animal species, many of which occur nowhere else on Earth. The endangered orangutan and Sumatran Tiger live here.
Paper, pulp and palm oil industries tear up original rainforest and replace it with plantations. This habitat destruction is not only wiping out populations of these rare animals but destroying essential carbon sinks and contributing significantly to climate change.
