Thanks to Greenpeacers for acting with reason and concern. The political reactions to the disasters of 2012 make it clear that the evil industry's owners are characteristically incapable to reason or care for civilization, having insulated themselves from public opinion by corrupting government employees and the media. Just more examples of anyone excessively rich being prima facie irrational, narcissistic personality disorders. Will anything but force stop their destruction of humanity and Earth?

If nuclear power is not included in the future energy mix, how do environmentalists hope to mitigate and prevent global climate change? There are no commercially viable storage mechanisms for wind and solar to provide baseload electricity to large urban centers. Even if every potential geothermal resource on earth were exploited, an impossibility, it would only provide 2TW of the 14TW of installed capacity the world needs to meet our existing energy requirements. Wind is great up tot he 20% threshold of a typical national jurisdictions energy mixture, but after that the levelized cost from wind reaches as high as $155/MWH, which is in no way economically competitive with natural gas. The piece by Jim Green is fraught with errors and misrepresentations of the findings the studies he quotes present. In short, it is a dishonest piece. As an environmentalist that is very concerned about climate change, I feel that Greenpeace does the green movement a significant disservice by fixating on the dangers of nuclear power, which are significantly overstated. The real culprit of course is coal and natural gas, yet Greenpeace remains silent on the potential for nuclear to abate GHGs generated by the burning of coal.

Stop being so cynical nuclear power isn't the best form of power but it's certainly not the worst, there are ways to recycle uranium and it emits very little carbon, I believe that with good guidance nuclear power has a future.
