even a nuclear ... and future consequences that inevitably will arise.
We must ALL act to really eradicate the scourge of research into nuclear technology,
we have other means of energy efficient perfectly.

I posted a video from Greenpeace that we no longer see on the internet and is dated 1988 I believe.
It is sadly still relevant.

News are also circulating in the Philippines that radiation will most likely hit the country, mostly caused by Japan winds being blown off to it. Any news about that? The people are somewhat scared and we are all hoping and crossing our fingers that this really is just a hoax.

ATOMKRAFT - NEIN DANKE !!! Genug ist genug ! Sollen die Befürworter der Kernenergie endlich aufhören mit den faulen Sprüchen von wegen in der Schweiz sei so etwas nicht möglich!!!!
Japan ist keine rückständige Industrienation und hat sicher moderne AKW. Bei Tschernobyl hat ein Grossteil die Lügen und Beschwichtigungen der Politiker vielleicht noch geglaubt. Ich hoffe, dass die Bevölkerung endlich merkt was los ist, und sich nicht länger für dumm verkaufen lässt!

I find it appalling that Greenpeace has taken an nigh-unparalleled natural disaster for the Japanese people and turned it into soapbox from which to spew forth their harmful luddite ideology. The disaster is not at Fukushima, it is in every Japanese town and city that has been left in ruins by the recent cascade of natural disasters.

Fukushima is a testament to the safety of well-built nuclear power plants. In spite of being hit by the 5th largest earth quake in history (7 times stronger than the plant was designed for--how's that for overengineering?), in spite of being hit by a tsunami a short time later, in spite of being 50 years old, and in spite of two reactor meltdowns, the safety measures have worked exactly as planned. The only people in danger of even mild radiation sickness are the technicians and engineers working inside the power station to salvage the remaining reactors. No one will die from this, as compared to the tens of thousands of deaths from the tsunami and earthquake or high-but-unknown number deaths caused every day by pollution from dirty power sources.

Iso, I wish you were right. Unfortunately we now have six reactor cooling ponds, each probably containing more radioactive material than was released at Chernobyl, potentially out of control. In at least one so far there has been a fire and a significant release of radiation. Also, partial meltdowns (30-70%) have been reported in three reactor cores. Thus something much worse than Chernobyl is now a credible contingency, but hopefully may be avoided more by good luck than god design and management.

The cost of nuclear power is not cheap.
If we understand its waste and accident are cost the hunman long term installment in our future.
