That was the message 50 Greenpeace activists took to the Kliene Brogel air force base in Belgium this week.

The activists succeeded in blocking nuclear training flights at the air base for almost two hours. The balloons deployed at either end of the base reached 50 meters high and prevented the base’s F-16s from taking off and landing.

The activists also strung security tape emphasizing the danger posed by the bases 20 B61 nuclear bombs – which have a combined yield over 200 times that of the Hiroshima bomb. Their hosting by Belgium, and Belgian pilots training in their use, is in clear violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The action was in advance of the Bombspotting actions taking place across Europe on April 3.
