Global bloggers unite on green themes

Press release - 15 October, 2007
Greenpeace applauds today's first-ever "Blog Action Day" which is encouraging bloggers from around the world to devote the day to writing on one theme. The subject for this inaugural year is the environment.

Blog Action Day started as an attempt by three bloggers to unite the world's diverse and noisy blog community into taking action. Over 15,000 bloggers have signed up. The three bloggers chose Greenpeace as one of four organisations which the online community is being encouraged to donate to. As Greenpeace blogger, Andrew Davies, said on weblog.greenpeace.org today, "Big thanks to the organisers who have made Greenpeace one of their official charities for donations. Nice one!" Major blogs that have signed up to blog action day include: Lifehacker, Dumb Little Man and GigaOm. Today's action is supported by treehugger, Read/Write web, google blogs and youtube blog. ENDS
