Copenhagen Climate Summit - Greenpeace Demands (short version)

Publication - 3 December, 2009
An increase in global temperature of even 1.5°C could lead to irreversible impacts, and 2°C risks triggering catastrophic runaway climate change. Governments need to take action now to ensure emissions peak by 2015 and decline rapidly to zero by mid-century.

Executive summary: The reality of climate change is outstripping research findings and it is clear that the threat of irreversible impacts is far more immediate than we imagined. The window of opportunity for avoiding runaway climate change is closing rapidly. This document is a short version of the policy demands put forward by Greenpeace, for developing and industrialised nations to take concrete action at the climate summit in Copenhagen.
