Last Thursday various student groups at Victoria University in Wellington set up camp in the quad over lunchtime, Signing On hundreds of fellow students and generally loving the opportunity to run around in polar bear costumes and spread the word about climate change. The Victoria University Student Union also released a press release officially stating its support for the campaign! Go VUWSA!

Then on Friday around 250 students took to the streets for a much-anticipated march to parliament. The march was part of the "10-20 % pure New Zealand" campaign and was a huge success. Virtually naked protesters in green bodypaint, drums, supportive onlookers (many of who joined in the march) and speeches by Green MP Keith Locke, Labour's Grant Robertson and Greenpeace’s very own Gareth Hughes; everyone who came along had a great time.

The march chant explained our simple request

‘What do we want?  40%! When do we want it? NOW!!!’
Climate change will be our loss.
John, John you’re the boss!
Why don’t you give a toss?
