Make River Smile
Dear Greenpeace activist, We did it! After 8 days of grueling but enlightening journey, Greenpeace's 350 km long 'Toxic free Chao Phraya' river tour' concluded in Bangkok on Friday 29 May. It was an emotional moment for the team when we unfurled our banner "Protect Chao Phraya Now" at Temple of Dawn. We have seen the beauty and the bounty of Chao Phraya at its origin in Nakonsawan and we have seen the slow poisoning of the river as we reached the lower reaches of the river after Ayuthaya. We interacted with hundreds of people along the river and shared with them our vision of clean rivers. We were humbled by the enthusiastic support of citizens and administrations of Nakhnosawan and Ayuthaya. And most importantly we were overwhelmed by your messages of encouragement during our journey. We could not have done it without you ! I'm sure you'll agree Mae Nam needs immediate attention. We will now use the information we gathered during our river journey to intensify our campaign to stop the relentless dumping of toxic chemicals and domestic waste into the river. To do this we need your support. That is why I'm asking you to consider making a financial donation to fund this work.Your donation will enables us to remain free and fearless to take action for a clean and green future for Thailand.Thank you once again for sharing our dream; together we are making a difference.
