Dear  friends,

Food and celebrations are essential aspects of what defines Pinoy culture, not any less significant than People Power or the beauty of welcoming smiles and scenic locations.  In this regard, we would like to invite you to an event that pays tribute not only to the health and beauty of our planet, but to that of Filipino agriculture, Filipino food and the Filipino people.

This Sunday, May 22, 2011, Greenpeace volunteer celebrity chefs Darrin Epp and Kiko Rustia join the Ms. Earth candidates at the Mercato Centrale in Bonifacio Global City, from 9:00AM to 2:00PM, for an "Organic Cook Out" to highlight the need to keep the Philippines' food supply chain free of Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs.

The event fuses a fun-filled celebration with a somewhat serious call for the Department of Agriculture to protect the organic agriculture industry and the rest of the country from the scourge of GMOs.  We wish to highlight the benefits of sustainable agriculture and why there really is no need (and no room!) for genetically engineered food crops (such as the pesticide-producing Bt Talong) that are a hazard to organic and conventional crops, and to the health of people and the environment.

We promise you a feast for the senses, not only through the superb gastronomic delights that will be available to you, but through interaction with the chef, the Ms. Earth candidates, and the Greenpeace volunteers and campaigners who will gladly have a tête-à-tête with you about their advocacies.

Please do not hesitate to post a comment or send an email to to confirm your participation or for any concerns you may have.

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
