'Race for the Climate!' A Dragonboat Regatta

Manila Bay on Sunday, April 28, 2002 from 7:00 to 11:30 am

Feature story - April 28, 2002
Greenpeace Southeast Asia invites you to watch "Race for the Climate!" This rowing event is co-organized by Greenpeace Southeast Asia, The Body Shop and the Amateur Rowing Association of the Philippines to drum up public support for the Choose Positive Energy (CPE) campaign.

Why is the theme Race for the Climate?

For a simple reason - when we talk about climate change we're really talking about a race to save the Planet. By reserving your April 28 morning for this colorful and relevant event, you are also placing your bet on a clean sustainable future - a future free from fossil fuels.

There will be roving volunteers on the event collecting your signatures for the global renewable energy petition along with postcards asking the administration of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to leave behind the world of dirty fossil-fired power production and to embrace the path of clean sustainable energy. Race for the Climate also features exciting renewable energy exhibits, rowing demonstrations as well as kiddie rides in Greenpeace inflatables.

Those who wish to can also sign ahead of the event by dropping by any of the 25 The Body Shop outlets in the country. Just look for Choose Positive Energy signature bays and sign away!
