An Asiatic Elephant (chang in Thai) and his mahout cool off beside a road near Khao Yai National Park, about 200 kilometers from Bangkok, during the first leg of the Chang(e) Caravan. The Chang(e) Caravan, launched yesterday by Greenpeace, will pass by Thailand’s Central Plains, along climate change-impacted areas, to call on world leaders, particularly United States President Barack Obama, to take decisive action on global warming. The 15-day journey will arrive at the outskirts of Bangkok in time for a crucial UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change) intercessional meeting before the Copenhagen climate summit in December.
