Greenpeace Southeast Asia Deputy Campaigns Director Mark Dia (L) confers with Liberal Party campaign officer Florencio "Butch" Abad (R), at Aquino’s campaign headquarters in Mandaluyong City, regarding Greenpeace's call for presidential aspirant Senator Benigno Simeon Aquino III to sign the commitment to prioritize water protection in the first hundred days of office should he win the elections. A similar “sleep in” action was held simultaneously at Gilbert Tedoro’s campaign office, where seven activists were taken into police custody following the action but were released without charges after two hours. The environment group is warning those vying for the next presidency against sleeping on climate change issues that greatly impact on the everyday lives of Filipinos and calling on the candidates to commit to water protection measures during the first hundred days should they be elected into office. Aquino responded positively to the Greenpeace demand.
