Greenpeace Water Patrol volunteers swell in number with the participation of representatives from LGUs of Marikina and Quezon City, students, barangay officials and community groups from San Mateo, Rizal, and other areas around the Marikina River, who are all calling for the elimination of toxic wastes from this important tributary of Laguna de Bay. A small flotilla was launched to bear witness to the state of Marikina River in anticipation of World Water Day (March 22) which, this year, carries the theme "Water for Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge."
