Corn fields near the alternative Chum Chon Ton Nam Nan Highland-Swamp-Field farm, Tha Wang Pha district, Nan province. Farmers are now planting corn to feed the country’s ever growing feed, poultry and livestock industry, which is predominantly captured by corporations. The scorching heat of the 2016 El Niño saw the issue of deforestation and haze, as brought about by increasing expansion of corn cultivation in community forests of Nan.
