What you can do from home to make the world a better place.

How to self-isolate in style: as Greenpeace employees work from home, scenes of “self-isolation” are becoming more common.

We know that community power is essential to creating lasting change in the world, but in times like these when we’re asked not to socialize, it can be a bit hard for activists to feel empowered.  What can we do if we can’t get down in the streets?

Lot’s, actually!

  1. PUSH FOR A GREEN RECOVERY!

A lot  is happening very quickly, and our governments are trying to find ways to support people and the economy. We learned in 2008 that if we don’t pay attention to the details, the wrong folks get rescued! Demand that Trudeau bails out people, not Big Oil

  1. SEND YOUR APPRECIATION TO HEROES #ONTHEFRONTLINE

Health care workers, grocery clerks, postal and delivery workers, farmers, community workers, security or maintenance staff, and so many others… The coronavirus crisis has highlighted that our society couldn’t cope without them. You can send them an appreciation message now!

  1. BUILDING PIPELINES… AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE?

We need you to help us get the word out on a troubling exception to the social distancing norms, enforced to confront the COVID-19 crisis. While the majority of people living in Canada are encouraged to stay home and do everything they can to “flatten the curve”, some industries are getting special treatment. Since when are resource extraction projects considered “essential work”? Shocked? Take action now.

  1. ORGANIZE OR PARTICIPATE IN A MUTUAL AID GROUP FOR YOUR COMMUNITY

Just because we’re stuck inside, doesn’t mean we can’t support each other. Many communities, towns and neighbourhoods are creating mutual aid groups on social media. These groups let people #offer or #request support in these difficult times and share useful information.

  1. NETFLIX AND… GET WISER TOGETHER?

Turns out folks have figured out how to make movie watching with friends possible even when you can’t be in the same room. A new app lets you chat about the movie while you watch from different locations. Here’s a list of documentaries to better understand our World.
